Our Youth Aerial classes provide children and young people aged 8 to 16 with experience in aerial skills. The participants gain practice in trapeze, aerial rope (corde lisse), aerial hoop (lyra) and fabrics. As well as being a great way to have fun and learn new skills, aerial work provides numerous health benefits. Everything from physical strength to your mood can be improved through regular participation in aerial activities.
In Youth Aerial classes participants
- Learn basic skills for each piece of aerial equipment
- Devise and perform routines
- Practise teamwork – supporting and encouraging your friends
- Gain greater self-confidence and self-belief
- Develop both physically and mentally – strength, focus, imagination, creativity and fitness
Clothing: Training clothes such as leggings, a long tight top, a leotard or a long sleeve t-shirt are ideal for aerial classes. It is advisable to have your skin covered, especially for aerial rope. It’s also a good idea to bring a refillable bottle of water with you.
Youth Aerial classes are open to all levels (max 15 people per group).
All our members have the opportunity to take part in Galway Community Circus performances – from theatre shows and Big Top Tent shows to street performances and parades. Youth Aerial members are invited to take part in two performances each year. Participation is strictly voluntary and tremendously fun!
