Last week seven of our older members and tutors travelled to Gran Canaria for the Give Me Five project - Circus for Inclusion. This was the fifth year of the project which was funded by Erasmus+ and organised by Mojo de Caña, which led to decision of the name, 'Give Me Five'.
The project was centred around the 35 participants who travelled from Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy and Spain, and over the week they devised workshops for families and local schools, participated in intercultural exchange and a parade along with many games and rehearsals which culminated to a show at the end of the week. The show consisted of all things circus, from clowning and juggling to aerial!
One of the Irish participants had this to say about the experience:"I learned so much about other cultures, communication (through the language of laughter and circus), acceptance, love, growth and lots more. I laughed so much during the week and made so many new friends. I hope to meet you again in the future. It was deadly!!!"
