GCC, Down Syndrome Ireland and SAP volunteer programme partnership

During the upcoming Autumn mid-term break, Galway Community Circus and Down Syndrome Ireland Galway branch are running a workshop entitled ‘Joy of Code’ with thanks to SAP volunteers project. SAP have provided DSI Galway with a grant for Galway Community Circus to facilitate this workshop open to their teenage members.

This workshop is building on the existing relationship between the three organisations which began in the summer of 2015 with a Family Circus summer camp for members of the Galway branch of Down Syndrome Ireland. Following its success another summer camp ran this year and we plan on continuing this partnership for future collaborations.

During the workshop participants will be introduced to the Scratch Junior programme through circus arts and be involved in the creation of a circus themed Scratch Junior animated stories, interactive games and whatever else they imagine. The week will be about having fun, making friends, learning and being creative! The goal of the workshop is to provide a welcoming and safe space for the participants to learn about circus and Scratch Junior, to make friends, build confidence and have fun in a creative environment.
