Galway Community Circus celebrated ‘Cirque du Gaillimh, the Greatest Show in the West’ under a beautiful Big Top in South Park, Claddagh last weekend and what a huge success it was. We are delighted that the show was a sellout success and our biggest and most ambitious production to date. All three of our shows presented to a full house of enthusiastic and excited audience members and we couldn’t be happier with how each show went. Our performers dazzled and shone bright amidst gasps and cheers of absolute delight as they majestically entertained, defied gravity and proved that circus is still very much alive as it approaches its 250th anniversary.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters, for without their amazing support, ‘Cirque du Gaillimh’ simply would not have been possible. Firstly, we would like to say a massive thank you to our funding bodies; The Arts Council Young Ensemble Scheme, Erasmus+, Galway City Council, RTÉ Supporting the Arts, The Ireland Funds and the IPB Community Scheme.
We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the local businesses of Galway, who so kindly and generously donated towards our raffle; Sheridans, Vodafone, Mez Masquerade, Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop, Beauty Lounge, House of Portobello, DC Shop, Francis’ Soap Shop, Willow, McCambridges, Sub City, G Tattoos, Le Petit Delice, Chilli Shack, Branar, Baboro, Claddagh Boatmen, Tiger, Galway Crafts and Collectables, Ernies, Judy Greenes, Galway Bay Tattoo, Kembali, My Shop Granny Likes it, Dungeon Donuts, The Kitchen and TGO Falafel.
We really are blown away with the local support for this project. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Claddagh Resident’s Association, Billy Cameron, Pearse Doherty, Arcana and St Joseph’s Community Centre.
Thank you to our partners, Tumble Circus and Maoin Ceoil na Gaillimhe for making ‘Cirque du Gaillimh’ the sellout success it was, your hard work is much appreciated. Thank you to the Galway Theatre Festival for having us featured in your fantastic programme, we are proud and honoured to have been part of such a great festival.
Here at GCC we are very lucky to have such a hard-working team, who have all been working non-stop to make ‘Cirque du Gaillimh’ the reality our young people envisioned. Thank you so much to each and every one of you. A special mention to Ciara for the amazing costumes and Claire for the PR and Marketing help.
Last but most definitely not least we would like to thank each of the young circus artists and musicians. We are so proud of you for putting in such hard work and dedication and for caring and supporting each other. So a big well done and thank you to each and every one of our performers, you should all be very proud.
To put on such a Big Top production, there is so much dedication on behalf of all involved so Galway Community Circus would like to sincerely thank all of the above and everyone who came along to see our show, everyone who shared the news and to every parent of all of the performers. You all played a very important role in making ‘Cirque du Gaillimh’, the greatest show in the West.
