Welcome to our New Team

Welcome to our New Team

Congratulations to our very own Amelie Bal, who is our new Head of Education. We are absolutely over the moon to have you on board the team in this fantastic position and we look forward to seeing all that you will bring to this role.

Becca Clayton is joining us from Seachange Arts in Great Yarmouth as our new Producer at the start of October. We can’t wait to have Becca joining our team and work with us to develop and deliver our Wires Crossed programme in partnership with Galway 2020. Welcome to Galway, Becca!

Galway Community Circus is delighted to introduce six new extraordinary members to the team. They all come from different countries but they are here for one main purpose - to enjoy circus, experience Galway life and join the GCC community. If you are curious and you want to find out more about these new people, keep reading!

Four new EVS volunteers, from Belgium, France and Italy want to meet all of you soon, but in the meantime you can discover something more about these new members of GCC staff.

Benoit – An amazing juggler from Belgium will teach your children some of his tricks and how important concentration is in juggling. He attended the circus school in Brussels, and he loves how circus arts can be used as a tool to create activities for children and young people. He has decided to join GCC because he wants to enrich his teaching skills, improve his English and because he likes the idea of being part of a community. So welcome Benoit, GCC community is the right place to explore all these areas.

Carolina – Our office was looking for some extra help, and finally the admin department has an EVS member who will join the office team! She is Italian, and she has a degree in Arts Management. GCC represents an opportunity for her to get to know more about circus and how organisations in the Arts are managed and organised. Ireland has always been an attraction to her, so she has decided to join us to discover and learn more about our wonderful country and is ready to deal with lots of rain and wind!

David – An amazing circus teacher from France, who trained and studied at the circus school in Brussels. An entertainer, an educator and a teacher for trainers - is there anything David can’t do? He wanted to join an EVS project before turning 30, and especially wants to be involved in the extraordinary project represented by Galway 2020. GCC can offer him an incredible opportunity to explore our Wires Crossed project, something he has been wanting to discover for a while.

Juliette – Her great interest in circus, social work and Ireland led Juliette directly to GCC. From France with love! Our new drama, entertainer and project coordination expert is ready to welcome all of you with her great kindness. As with all our new team members, she wants to improve her English and wants to share her experience with the GCC community.

Still interested? Because two more amazing people are waiting to meet you!

Léana – France is going to have a key role this year! As an intern at GCC and Educational Science near-graduate, Léana will have the great chance to develop her final dissertation by doing a field study at GCC. She has already been involved in another internship in the circus sector with Caravan, one of GCC’s main supporters. Full of energy and a great dancer, she wants to learn more about acrobatics this year and GCC is the right place to find out more about this practice.

Last but not least.

Sarah – Our new assistant producer and coordinator of EVS volunteers. She has taken part in many volunteer projects all around the world and has a wealth of experience to share with us. It was the idea of being a part of Galway 2020 and the Wires Crossed project that encouraged her most of all. After many years of teaching she is now ready to discover - what happens “behind the scenes”, administration processes and how the Galway 2020 project is coordinated. Someone once told her “If Galway is mostly rainy, GCC is the sun”, and she now fully understands why after meeting the GCC team.

If you want to discover more about our new team members and meet them in person - come to GCC, join one of our amazing classes or visit us in the office and say “hi”.
