Galway Community Circus is delighted to announce that we will be hosting a European Youth Circus Exchange for young people from six European circus schools this summer! The exchange will take place from the 11th to the 19th of July and it is the first youth circus exchange to take place in Galway.
Those taking part in the exchange will travel from Belgium, Italy, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Finland to join five GCC youth circus members for a week of circus workshops and training along with cultural exchange, outings in Galway city and county along with lots of other fun activities! Some of the activities planned include a trip to Connemara, a treasure hunt around the city and a day in Salthill. The workshops will be lead each day by the circus leaders and the young people who will have an active part in running the exchange. During the week the group will create a big European circus show to be performed at the Spanish Arch on Sunday the 17th of July.
In mid-May an Advanced Planning Meeting for the leaders of the groups was held in Galway which was a lovely chance for all the leaders to meet each other and finalise the schedule for the week.
This exchange will be a great opportunity for the participants to meet other young people from across Europe and to learn about different cultures and to make circus friends for life - we can't wait!
This exchange is funded by the EU Erasmus+ programme and we would like to thank them and the Irish national agency Leargas for supporting this exchange, it would not be possible without them!
